Project Description
Innovative project idea
Over the past two years, as students have eagerly adopted using GenAI for learning, we have observed systemic negative effects from its unguided use on their learning outcomes. To timely act upon this, the project: (1) builds an analytics module, monitoring students’ activity in order to measure learning progress under the influence of GenAI; and (2) develops a customizable module for guided, responsible GenAI use that can be easily integrated into any OLAT course to improve learning outcomes. The solution will be piloted in four classes and the results will be made available to the community.
Added value for students and teaching
Our proposed project carries several benefits for both students and instructors. For students, it provides: (1) an efficient and guided use of GenAI, naturally embedded into their learning environment; and (2) continuous analytics-based insights into their learning journey. We expect that both will help students improve the quality of their learning process and its outcomes. For instructors, it: (1) facilitates smooth and responsible integration of GenAI activities into the teaching process; and (2) offers means to quantify the impact of using GenAI in education and identify improvements.
