Project Description

Innovative Project Idea

Information overload is an omnipresent challenge hindering informed decision making. Our semester course “systematic review and meta-analysis" aims to fill this gap by equipping students with skills to independently complete a systematic review. This research-based course brings together students from life sciences, integrating biomedical, statistics, as well as information science. Students will engage in hands-on projects derived from their own research questions, supported by individualized 1:1 sessions and peer-led teaching, bringing theoretical knowledge to practical application.

Added value for students and teaching

By working on their own research questions, students will see the entire cycle of a systematic review - from formulating a research question to the publication process. By learning to navigate and rigorously synthesize large literature volumes, the students will not only be able to critically evaluate the evidence base but also contribute to informed decision making in science policy. Additionally, the course fosters skills in digital tools, interdisciplinary collaboration, and research-based teaching, benefiting both students and teaching at the UZH.
