E-Learning for Business Analytics Made Simple

Innovative project idea

This project introduces students to complex topics in Business Analytics via an innovative OLAT-based e-learning system that delivers a set of interconnected courses with individual learning spaces. On one page, students can simultaneously watch learning podcasts, code in an embedded programming window, and interact with other students or the instructor(s) via an integrated messaging tool. We emphasize flipped classroom, experiential learning, micro-credentials, and gamification elements. The created course package will account for up to 20% of the ECTS required in the Marketing Minor program.

Benefits for students and teaching at UZH

Our proposed project carries several benefits for students and teaching. On the teaching side, the proposed e-learning system enables us to create more diverse course offerings, even with a reduced number of teaching assistants. It also enables hybrid teaching setups and supports a wide variety of didactic concepts. Students, in turn, benefit from individual learning spaces, self- pacing, social exchanges with likeminded students, easily accessible high-quality content, and applied learning with a flexible schedule.
